About Us
I began Creative Procrastinations when I realized I was making far more crafts than I could possibly give away as gifts. The company's name stems from my tendency to make crafts when I should be doing other projects (such as cleaning, or working on my writing). My company is based on similar principles as those that fueled the Arts and Crafts Movement of more than a century ago: a respect for handcrafting, a reaction to industrialization, and beauty for working people. I believe everyone should be able to own handmade art, which is why I keep my prices as low as possible.
About the Owner
My official job (the one I put on my tax forms) is bookseller. I have worked at an independent bookstore since 1997 and cannot think of a better place to work. I am also a writer- I finished my first novel in October of 2008 (I started it in February 2000), I am now working on the second while I begin the getting published process for the first. I am also a crafter- I have loved to make things since I was a young child and have over the years acquired the knowledge of a variety of techniques- from basic beading to cabinetry. I often find I have many more ideas than I have time and find it difficult to choose which to follow, and I can't even begin to describe the agonies of having too many books to read and far too little time. I make up some of that time with my audible account- listening to books on my ipod while I work on craft projects. I've been happily married since 2000 and live with my husband and our various fur-children (currently 4 cats and a 3-legged rabbit) in our self-decorated, modern Arts and Crafts style home.
